Smoked 3-2-1 Ribs with BBQ Sauce Recipe

These smoked pork spare ribs are seasoned with a savory dry rub and smoked low and slow until they fall off the bone tender. A final coating of BBQ sauce adds just the right amount of sweet and tangy flavor.

Ingredients

Time Needed

  • Prep Time: 20 minutes
  • Cook Time: 6 hours
  • Total Time: 6 hours, 20 minutes

Instructions

  • Prepare the smoker for 250°F heat with hickory or oak wood.
  • Trim any excess fat and remove the membrane from the back of the ribs.
  • On both sides of the ribs, generously apply the dry rub.
  • Place the ribs, bone side down, on the smoker for 3 hours.
  • Remove the ribs from the smoker after 3 hours and place each rack on a sheet of aluminum foil.
  • Pour 1/2 cup apple juice over each rack and tightly wrap in foil.
  • Return the ribs to the smoker for another 2 hours of smoking.
  • Brush the ribs with BBQ sauce after removing them from the foil.
  • Return to the smoker for another hour of smoking.
  • Remove the ribs from the smoker and set aside for 10 minutes to rest before serving.
